Half term and we met to raise £87 for the Church Homeless Trust. A quieter morning due to many being away but still people came to have a chat and converse. A morning which gradually got busier and raised £115 for the womens shelter in Coventry Haven. Elizabeth and Hazel were in charge today and we also celebrated Elizabeth and Terry's diamond wedding celebrations with a cake.
A lovely day for the February coffee morning and a chance to catch up with old friends. We collected £102 for the Chapel and enjoyed a good natter.
Several people were away today but we still collected £125 for Sightsavers and had a good laugh with friends. Jane and Carol worked hard and there were some great raffle prizes. Perhaps they were unwanted Christmas gifts? Anyway they went to new homes. We had a visitor from Warm Hubs at Warwickshire and she enjoyed herself and approved the premises. We have received a grant from them towards the heating and will also be opening up the school room on the 3rd Thursday afternoon of each month, as a place for everyone to meet, chat and eat. Save on your heating and come to us. You can read or play many games together.
A very busy morning with a lot of people attending. All found a lovely decorated Christmassy room complete with tree and each table had holly and a candles on it. £162 was raised for Crisis at Christmas. A good crowd supported the morning with lots of raffle prizes and meringues. Many thanks to Fiona, Mary and Rosemary for their hard work. They were kept very busy and it was lovely to see so many old friends again. This was our first winter warm hub event as well.
Hope you will come again in January We made £82 at this month’s coffee morning for UK Blind Veterans. It was lovely to see some old friends making the effort to get out again and we hope others will return next month when we remember Crisis at Christmas. There were some lovely cakes from Helen and everyone enjoyed catching up with friends.
£60 was raised to support the Methodist relief and development fund All We Can, which helps find solutions to poverty by engaging with local people and organisations, in some of the world’s poorest communities, to end the suffering caused by inequality and injustice. A select band of people met to have a chat and relax on what turned out to be a nice day. Some lovely cakes were sent by Evelyn as she was not able to attend and thanks to Pauline and Phil for supervising it all.
Today raised £84 for Operation Noah. We had a few more children again as most have not yet gone back to school quite but it was generally a little quieter day as perhaps some take advantage of the later summer to go away. However a good selection of cakes was enjoyed by all those present.
